Delegates to the UN climate talks in Bonn entered their plenary session today holding indulgences absolving them of their carbon sins.  Gaia the earth goddess, wearing her trademark green frock and crown of leaves welcomed the delegates and bestowed her indulgences.

“Where are you from,” Gaia asked, “Indonesia?  How did you arrive at the conference today?”  “We flew in a plane,” the Indonesian delegate replied.  “That plane emitted carbon,” Gaia explained, “you didn’t breathe on board did you?  More carbon!”

After learning that most of the delegates had indeed arrived by plane, Gaia asked, “Have you been washing your clothes in a machine, or do you take them down to the river to wash by hand?  Do you watch television?  Use a computer?  You don’t refrigerate your food do you?  Did you bring the food home in a car?  All carbon sins!  You’re lucky I’m selling carbon indulgences today and I’ve brought free samples for all delegates.”

The world’s great religions long ago ended the practice of offering absolution in exchange for cash.  In the global warming age, however, large emitters of carbon, such as former Vice President Al Gore (whose 20 room eight bathroom mansion in Nashville consumes as much power as twenty average Americans) claim to use “offsets.”  Gore and the global warming elite have advocated purchasing carbon offsets which allow them to continue their rich lifestyles guilt free.  They are also willing to sell these offsets to the rest of us.

Gaia’s indulgences printed by CFACT, The Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow, state, “This indulgence serves as a remittance for all your carbon sins.  You are hereby forgiven for: flying where you choose, machine washed clothes, driving your vehicle, your computer and electronic conveniences, taking hot showers, exhaling carbon dioxide, making things in factories, growing food with tractors, eating meat, watching your favorite TV shows, refrigerated food, Edison’s light bulb, air conditioning and heating and attending international conferences.”

The disclaimer states, “Purchase of this indulgence absolves you from your guilt from living in a free, productive society.  This indulgence will not meaningfully alter the weather, nor climate and is therefore the most honest carbon trading strategy you can find.”

Bonn, Germany – Delegates to the UN Climate Conference were smiling as they entered the plenary session today holding in their hands “100 International Carbon Credits.” The certificates bear a portrait of Nobel Prize Laureate and former Vice President Al Gore beside a portrait of the earth on fire.

The credit states, “The bearer is entitled to enjoy guilt free: Eco-tourism, McMansions, private jets, world travel, fleets of cars, hot showers, machine-washed clothing, big-screen TVs and all the amenities you’ve come to love.”    What got them laughing, however, was the disclaimer which reads, “CFACT’s carbon credits will not affect the weather, nor climate in any meaningful way, but then, neither will anyone else’s.”

As he presented delegates with their sample climate credits Lord Monckton said, “I’m encouraged at how receptive the delegates have been.  Minds are opening at last and discussions that should have taken place years ago are finally getting started.  The delegates get the joke.  Everyone knows deep down that carbon credits and offsets will have no effect on our climate.  Their only benefits are to would-be carbon traders and profiteers who expect the taxpayers of the world to provide them with rich pickings.  After they collect their bonuses the carbon traders can offset their mega yachts by buying their own carbon credits and offsets.”

(Copenhagen, Denmark, December 16, 2009) Global warming skeptics from CFACT yesterday pulled off an international climate caper using GPS triangulation from Greenpeace’s own on-board camera photos to locate and sail up long-side of the infamous Greenpeace vessel, Rainbow Warrior. Then in Greenpeace-like fashion, the CFACT activists unfurled a banner reading “Propaganda Warrior” which underscored how the radical green group’s policies and agenda are based on myths, lies, and exaggerations.

Earlier in the day the activists daringly boarded Greenpeace’s Arctic Sunrise with neither stealth nor force, but by baffling the crew with doughnuts, and unfurled a banner that read “Ship of Lies” off the starboard side.

“Greenpeace has been using these kinds of tactics for decades, and now they can find out what it’s like to have a little taste of their own medicine, “ said CFACT executive director Craig Rucker who masterminded the operation.

CFACT unfurled the banners for two reasons, CFACT president David Rothbard explained. “Greenpeace ships, like the Rainbow Warrior and Arctic Sunrise, have become global symbols for radical environmentalism, and we wanted to call attention to the harm these groups are causing.  And second, it seemed appropriate to use one of Greenpeace’s favorite tactics to make this point.”

Greenpeace protesters frequently hang banners from factories and office buildings, paint slogans on smokestacks, and employ other publicity stunts. Some are relatively harmless, but others reflect a willingness to lie or even destroy property to make a point.

In 1995, Greenpeace launched a $2-million public relations campaign against Shell Oil, claiming the company was planning to dump tons of oil and toxic waste in the ocean by sinking its Brent Spar platform as an artificial reef. It was a full year before the group issued a written apology, admitting it knew all along that there had been no oil or chemical wastes on the platform.

Greenpeace has frequently destroyed bio-engineered crops, wiping out millions of dollars in research efforts designed to develop food plants that are more nutritious, withstand floods and droughts better, and resist insect infestations without the need for chemical pesticides. It has also waged an unrelenting campaign against insecticides and insect repellants that could prevent malaria, a vicious disease that infects 500 million people a year, kills over 1 million and leaves millions more with permanent brain damage.

“Greenpeace employs the same deceitful tactics in opposition to nuclear, hydroelectric and hydrocarbon energy, even though 1.5 billion people still do not have electricity – and thus don’t have lights for homes, hospitals and schools, or power to purify water and run offices, shops and factories,” Rucker says.

Rothbard acknowledged Greenpeace was launched for the best of reasons.  “But it radicalized its mission. The more power it acquired, the more it abused that power,” he said. “Some of Greenpeace’s original cadre has left, feeling they can no longer associate themselves with its current agenda.”

Greenpeace claims that human carbon dioxide emissions are causing “dangerous global climate change.” Hundreds of climate scientists and thousands of other scientists disagree with that assertion, as frequently noted by Lord Christopher Monckton, former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and a CFACT advisor.

“The continuing scandal over falsified and destroyed temperature data, manipulated climate models, and a perverted scientific and peer review process further demonstrates that there is no valid basis for this anti-energy, wealth-redistribution, global governance Copenhagen treaty,” said Rucker.

Anti-energy policies represent a “clear and present danger to the health and welfare of billions,” he added.  Mandates for wind and solar would send energy prices skyrocketing, sharply constrict economic opportunities and destroy jobs.

“People in developing countries simply want to improve their living standards, and give their children a chance to live past age five,” Rothbard said. “Greenpeace is diametrically opposed to giving them access to the modern technologies that would help them do that.”

Greenpeace is one of the “most unethical and irresponsible corporations on Earth,” said Christina Wilson, a recent graduate from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. “It’s time to expose it for what it is, and help promote real environmental justice. So I was really excited to participate in this human rights effort.”

“The ‘Ship of Lies’ and ‘Propaganda Warrior’ banners are part of CFACT’s long-term effort to bring sense and balance back to the environmental debate,” said Rothbard.

Fox News recently released documents where United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) discusses how to use environmental policies to expand its reach and power. UNEP plans to use the media frenzy in the wake of the Copenhagen Climate Summit to launch its strategy.

Lord Christopher Monckton, a former adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and member of CFACT’s delegation to the Copenhagen Climate Summit, agrees.

“I read the Copenhagen treaty,” says Lord Monckton. “And what it says is this; that a world government is going to be created. The word “government” actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity.”

“The EU model is being taken by the UN as a shining model of what they want to achieve at Copenhagen,“ says Lord Monckton. “At first it will appear to be a little technocratic committee, just like the European Union. Start small so nobody notices, but make sure that it is made by treaty so all countries are bound by it thereafter. A treaty is the only way that your constitution created by your founding fathers, can be overridden by foreigners.”

The CFACT Collegians group at the University of Connecticut hosted a screening of Not Evil Just Wrong this week. An alarmist student group decided to protest the screening due to the content of the movie, but they were not interested in seeing the movie themselves according to Daily Campus:

“Not everyone present debated the existence of global warming – many students from CFACT said they were more concerned with the way the government handles the issue.

‘I don’t care much about environmental issues. I care about the fact that people are dying because we’re trying to help global warming,’ said Matthew Darling, a 3rd-semester political science major. ‘They’re telling Africa to use solar power when the U.S., the industrialized nations, never had to. Telling them to [use alternative energy] is hypocritical.’

People in developing countries can’t afford to use these energy sources, Darling said.

‘I’m one who believes global warming exists and is caused by humans,’ said Phillip Ruffy, a 1st-semester management for engineering and manufacturing major and CFACT member. ‘I think that governmental regulations are not the way to solve the problem. I’m for free market. I’m a libertarian.’

CFACT members challenged the demonstrators, asking why they weren’t going in to watch the movie.

‘Are you aware of the facts in the movie?’ Ruffy asked Berthiaume. Berthiaume told him he’d seen the trailer, but was not interested in watching the film at this time.”
