They are totems of our times

Bonn – The Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT) will sponsor a press briefing Thursday, 10 June, at 10:30 local time in room Hayden at Bonn’s Hotel Maritim to discuss the general state of climate change policy and the future of renewable energy.

“The global warming argument is in tatters,” said Craig Rucker, CFACT’s Executive Director. “Climategate and revelations about alarmism drummed up over Himalayan glaciers exemplify errors that have opened minds around the world. This, coupled with the public’s clear disaffection for the endless warming propaganda they’ve been bombarded with by the media, have emboldened experts to join the debate. They no longer feel intimidated. We are only now having the genuine evaluation of global warming we should have had at the beginning.”

Neither a climate treaty, nor binding agreement are currently warranted. CFACT calls attention to the multi-faceted aspects of global warming proposals that are clearly not yet ready for prime time.

Serious questions are only now being genuinely considered as to:

The degree to which the planet may be warming and is expected to warm

Whether observed warming is caused by the green house effect or myriad other factors

Whether recent warming is mainly anthropogenic or natural in origin

Whether the impacts of warming will be dire, inconsequential or maybe beneficial

Whether proposals to forestall potential warming would be effective and worth their cost

Whether to proceed with policies to either mitigate or adapt to climate change

Whether the process to consider these weighty issues has been open, honest and trustworthy

“We’d best hope that warming is only a scare,” Rucker said, “as proposals to combat it are loaded with bureaucracy, accounting, wealth transfers, profiteering and political window dressing. If catastrophic warming were real and as dire as the propagandists say, and we trusted our fate to the proposals we’re seeing in Bonn, we’d all be cooked. Carbon trading, subsidies and wealth transfers won’t alter the climate in any meaningful way even if we believe the climate models are correct which fortunately we do not. They clearly are all pain no gain.”

CFACT is calling attention to the state of renewable energy which today makes huge profits for its developers, but little meaningful energy. The Committee hopes the day will come when renewables can stand on their own and produce real power. Sadly they have become the totems of our times – sculptures we erect to feel good about ourselves. Energy inequality is an immediate tragedy and it will take nuclear and yes, fossil fuels, to lift developing peoples out of poverty. People are dying today for lack or necessities we take for granted – refrigeration, modern medicine, adequate nutrition and education. CFACT believes we must resolve to ensure adequate and affordable energy to every person on earth. Renewables may soothe western anxieties, but they are not currently able to meet the needs of humanity in a truly meaningful way.

Lord Christopher Monckton, who has been criss-crossing the globe lecturing on climate and energy policy and is possibly the world’s best known climate skeptic will lead this briefing.

Fox News recently released documents where United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) discusses how to use environmental policies to expand its reach and power. UNEP plans to use the media frenzy in the wake of the Copenhagen Climate Summit to launch its strategy.

Lord Christopher Monckton, a former adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and member of CFACT’s delegation to the Copenhagen Climate Summit, agrees.

“I read the Copenhagen treaty,” says Lord Monckton. “And what it says is this; that a world government is going to be created. The word “government” actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity.”

Monckton explains how the UN will create global governance, using the same method the EU used in a new video released by CFACT.

Singer is a lead author on the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) Report, a distinguished atmospheric physicist, and a member of CFACT’s delegation to the Copenhagen Climate Summit will present the NIPCC Report in light of recent developments.

“After reading the Climategate-emails we have realized that global warming may be ‘manmade’ after all,” says Singer.

The NIPCC Report is the most comprehensive compilation of current climate change research available. The report finds that there is no scientific evidence to consider global warming a catastrophic event.

CFACT (Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow), is a UN accredited NGO. CFACT offers positive solutions to today’s global challenges with the aid of its influential scientific advisory board, aggressive collegiate program, CFACT Europe, Adopt-A-Village project, Global Social Responsibility program, and “Just the Facts” national radio commentary.

You will find biographies for our delegation, video, event calendars, and more media resources at www.CFACT.TV. Summary of the NIPCC findings can be found at www.nipccreport.org/aboutReport.html.
